Pepcid helps Hyperpigmentation

Pepcid helps Hyperpigmentation

Pepcid is an H2 (histamine 2) blocker usually used for heartburn and other stomach acid problems. It blocks the histamine usually produced by the stomach. In recent studies (listed below), this OTC medication has been proven to halt melanogenesis, which is the process of melanin (skin pigment) being created and deposited in the skin.

Melasma and other pigment conditions were previously thought to be only helped by skin bleaching ingredients like hydroquinone, which is a chemical that has been linked to cancer.

I was told early in my esthetics career by an industry leader that my Melasma was uncurable. Fortunately more research has been conducted. My Melasma completely disappeared after about a year of daily use of Fomotidine (generic name for Pepcid). Even after stopping the h2 blocker, the pigment is still gone and my skin looks amazing!

While patiently waiting for the H2 blocker to do its thing, I recommend starting a series of peel and microdermabrasions to remove the already pigmented skin. Also, a consistent home routine with gentle exfoliation is key! Start your journey now for better skin tomorrow
