Estheticians are skilled in managing conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and dry skin, to name just a few and most skin care treatments are wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating.
Here are just some of the benefits of regular facials:
Deeply cleanses skin and pores, to prevent and remove blackheads and dead skin
Improve skin that is either to dry or too oily
Enhance the look and texture of the skin
Rejuvenates skin that has begun to look old or wrinkled
Increase circulation and stimulate the skin. More blood flow = healthy skin.
Help slow down premature aging by custom-targeting your skin care
Help keep skin moist and hydrated through changing seasons and stressful life events
Understand proper skin care products, skin can change quickly with hormonal and other life changes like: stress, child birth, menopause, travel, sadness, illness, surgery…etc!
Provides a sense of relaxation and peace
Also, it is important to know what to do to continue the benefits between facials. Be sure to follow your esthetician’s suggestions for your home routine so that you are using the right products for your skin. That way each in-office treatment is more effective.
Difference between Esthetics and Dermatology
Dermatology is a branch of the medical profession, practiced by licensed physicians who specialize in disorders of the skin. Esthetic practice specifically excludes diagnosis, prescription, or any other service, procedure, or therapy that requires a medical license. If you’re being treated by a dermatologist, your esthetician can provide complementary and support therapies. In addition, estheticians are trained to recognize early signs of many medical conditions affecting the skin, and will refer you to a dermatologist in such a case. A dermatologist’s job is to treat medical conditions; an esthetician’s job is to help you to not need a dermatologist by keeping your skin moist and healthy on a daily basis.
What is a facial?
A facial is the most popular treatment performed by estheticians. It is a good way for your therapist to get a good understanding of your skin prior to suggesting more aggressive treatments. A facial generally includes makeup removal and skin cleansing, exfoliation by mechanical, enzymatic or chemical means, steaming, facial massage, a treatment mask, serum/moisturizer and sunblock. For most people, facials can be scheduled every four weeks, although your therapist may recommend a different schedule based on your individual needs.
